KBB EFEMERASI (197) Dr. Jean Taptas mektubu

Jean Taptas, 1917 yılında İstanbul'da KBB Hekimi

Dr. Nicolas Taptas'ın oğlu olarak dünyaya geldi. 

KBB İhtisası için Paris'e gitti ancak fikrini değiştirerek

Nöroşirurji İhtisası yaptı ve bir süre Fransa'da çalıştıktan sonra

Türkiye'ye geldi ve Sağlık Bakanlığı İhtisas Tescil Listesinde 

Türkiye'nin 1 no.'lu Nöroşirurji Uzmanı olarak kaydedildi.

1950-53 yılları arasında Amerikan, Rum ve Ermeni Hastahanelerinde ve

2 yıl da Bakırköy Akıl ve Sinir Hastalıkları Hastahanesinde çalıştı.

1955 yılı 6-7 Eylül olayları sonrasında İstanbul'dan ayrıldı ve

uzun yıllar Atina Kızılhaç Hastahanesi'nde Profesör olarak çalıştı.

Emekli olduktan sonra Skiathos adasına yerleşen

Dr. Jean Taptas, 2015 yılında 98 yaşında vefat etti. 

2001 yılında, babası Dr. Nicolas Taptas hakkında bilgi ve

belgelerinden yararlanmak için Prof. Dr. Jean Taptas'a mektupla

başvuruda bulunan Dr. Yücel Tanyeri'ne 

23.07.2001 tarihli ve el yazısı ile yazdığı mektupla şu yanıtı verdi:

Dear Dr. Tanyeri

   Thank you very much indeed for your two letters and the poster. I prefer to answer you in English as after 14 years in Paris (1935-49) and 45 in Athens (1956-2001) my Turkish vocabulary and grammary are poor. You must excuse my delayed letter because as I live 4 kms from Skiathos village. I don't  visit regularly the Post office and I found your second letter with the poster only today. 

   Thank you for promoting my father's scientific work, reminding it to our younger colleagues. Your poster of O.R.L. in the Ottoman Empire from 1880-1920 is excellent and my father's contributions very well presented.   

   You probably know that he also served the Ottoman Empire as the private doctor of Sultans Rechad and Vahdettin. Rechad, when a crown prince, asked him to be his doctor a few years before Hamid's abdicatio, which was not without risk, in those days! Atatürk asked him to be his O.R.L. doctor in the years 1930 and after as well as going the deputy of the frenk minority in Ankara Parliament in 1935-42.

   The Ottoman Empire was really a multi-ethnic state will the different non-moslem "milliet" recognized by Mehmet the Conqueror. To day there are no more empries (except the U.S.A ) but a multi-ethnic Europe is developing which Turkey will goin and the old conditions will be restored again!

I am not sure to be able to going your meeting in Antalya next September. Anyways Dr. Simasko will present a short paper on my father's activities in O.R.L. with slides of his Galatasaray and Emperial Medical School diploma.
