KBB EFEMERASI (108) ziya nuri paşa ve mantoux testi

Prof. Dr. Ziya Nuri Paşa, 1900 yılı başlarından 1933 yılına kadar süren bir dönemde ülkemizin en başta gelen KBB Mütehassısıdır. Mükemmel Almanca ve Fransızca bilmektedir ve çeşitli Uluslararası dergilerde bu dillerde makaleleri vardır. Mantoux testi bilindiği gibi Tüberküloz'un tanısında yardımcı olabilen ve PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) olarak bildiğimiz bir deri testidir. Aşağıda Ziya Nuri Hocamızın antetli kağıdına Lancet Dergisinin  1934 yılındaki bir sayısından, kendi el yazısı ile aldığı İngilizce notu görecek ve okumaya çalışacağız. 

Hocamız 1936 yılında vefat etmiştir. 

Mantoux Test : Dilution of old Tuberculin (Human series T 1586 from Burroughs [and Wellcome & Co.]) were  made with sterile distilled water  of  0.5% phenol, and only those which had been prepared not more than ten days  previously  were  employed. Each patient was first tested with a dilution of 1 in 10.000 on the left forearm. This were read after 48 hours. If negative or doubtful the test was repeated. On the same day with a dilution of 1 in 1000 on the right arm. When this recent test the read 48 hours later, the left arm was also examined  to see if a delayed positive reaction had appeared with the 1 in 10.000 dilution.   A third test was performed the same day with a 1 % dilution [lower down on the right forearm]. The minimum as a positive reaction was a well defined erythematous area  10 mm in diameter  & slightly reacted  above the  surrounding surface
